Meet the Staff
 Newt
and Claire Hetrick began their love for China
in 1997 when first traveling there with a small group of friends to visit
several universities. After continuing to visit over the following years,
wonderful relationships have been established with students, graduates,
faculty, and administrators.
Over the past 10 years, they have developed a curriculum program that
contains both English and leadership skills that bring American and Chinese
friends together to grow in their knowledge of each other's culture. Their
love and understanding of Chinese university students is shared and taught to
groups who are going for a 2-week trip as well as the full-time teachers who
wish to serve for a year or more.
Newt and Claire have worked together with high school and college students
over the past 38 years both in teaching and counseling roles. They have been
married for 36 years and have three grown daughters and 7 grandchildren. When
not in China,
the Hetricks live in Ellicott City, Maryland.
